A Very Flexible Schedule
My internship at High Point High School was an exercise in flexibility. As is the case in most middle and high schools, High Point High School's Media Center enjoyed a flexible schedule. Diplomacy and excellent record keeping were necessary to manage this schedule, as the space was in high demand. An additional complication was a plague of delayed openings and snow days, which not only caused changes to the media schedule, but also caused me to stay a week longer than anticipated in order to meet my internship time requirement.
While at this school, I used the Destiny circulation system, received fees for printing and overdue books, and collaborated with an ESOL teacher for her Introduction to To Kill a Mockingbird lesson. I also was witness to the announcement that, starting the following school year, High Point High School would be designated a Title 1 school.
